Serbian conductor opens festival in Italy

BELGRADE - Dejan Savic conducted Donizetti's Elixir of Love opera in Potenza, a city in the Southern Italian region of Basilicata, which opened the new Summer Festival in this region, known for its cutural events.

The opera was held in a natural amphitheatre near the city and was performed by the Lucana Symphony Orchestra and the Euromediterraneo Choir, the Serbian National Theatre has stated.

The performance was received excellently by the crowd and Savic was invited as guest to the Lecce Opera Theatre next season.

Savic graduated conducting with distinction at the Academy of Music in Belgrade and received his Masters Degree at the Academy of Arts in Novi Sad.

The Opera and Ballet Chief Conductor has conducted a number of prestigeous festivals worldwide, appearing with some of the most prominent symphony orchestras and choirs.
