Former director of transport company arrested
BELGRADE -- Former Lasta transport company Director Velibor Sovrović has been arrested along with five others on suspicion that they abused their official position.
The Interior Ministry (MUP) made the announcement on Wednesday.
Other suspects were employees of Lasta, which is majority owned by the state, and of BG Moto Provide and VLAAN companies.
The police are looking for another suspect, a Lasta manager.
The group is charged with renting office space and buying office supplies at prices several times higher than market prices, as well as "purchasing bus tickets with holograms," and in doing so allowing BG Moto Provide and VLAAN to make illegal money gains.
According to the MUP, this activity started in 2007 and was ongoing at the time of the arrests.
The group is said to have caused damages of RSD 133.6 million to Lasta.
