70 years ago, King Mihai managed to prevent Romania's turning into a warzone, by proving courage, determination and responsibility for the country's fate, Romania's Senate President Calin Popescu-Tariceanu shows in a message broadcast on Saturday.
According to him, the decided action of our country, which joined the Allies on August 23, 1944, contributed to the significant shortening of the war, sparing all Europe's peoples of immense suffering.
"The personal message His Majesty sent to all Romanians 70 years ago was from the first moment in the entire people's assent, while the heroic Romanian Army, in its integrality, proved from the first second that it was ready to spill its blood for the country. At the same time, the decided action of our country contributed to the significant shortening of the war, sparing all Europe's peoples of immense suffering," Calin Popescu-Tariceanu highlights.
