First electoral list for national councils announced

SUBOTICA - The list of the Alliance of Backi Bunjevci (SBB), headed by Mirko Bajic, is the first electoral list to be announced for the upcoming republic level elections for national minority councils taking place in Serbia on October 26, the SBB has said in a release.

The SBB believes that the forthcoming, direct elections for the national councils are of crucial importance to further improving relations and the position of the Bunjevci national minority in the Republic of Serbia.

"The principal goal for the Alliance of Backi Bunjevci in the elections for national councils is strengthening institutions," the party said.

The priorities listed by the SBB include acceptance of the Bunjevci language in schools, preserving the acquired position in the area of information and its further development in compliance with the new Law on Public Information, and the formation of an institution of culture under the auspices of the National Council and the Autonomous Province of Vojvodina.
