Udovicki, EBRD director discuss investment climate

BELGRADE - Improvement of the investment climate and the support of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) to making local-level enterprises more efficient were the main topics of Wednesday's meeting between Serbian Minister of State Administration and Local Self-Government Kori Udovicki and Jean-Marc Peterschmitt, EBRD Managing Director for Central and South Eastern Europe.

With regards to improving the business climate in Serbia, the EBRD is interested in the possibility of setting up a consultative body comprised of members of the interested parties, which would require mutual coordination, Udovicki's ministry said in a statement.

The body would be tasked with coordinating the process of boosting the investment climate, as well as with assessing all aspects of the process.

The consultative body would operate according to a list of priorities that would be defined in the coming period, with details to be worked out at a meeting that will take place within a month.

In addition to the significant tasks Serbia is facing in implementing legislative activities in the fields of inspection oversight and planning and construction, other problems and hotspots must be identified for this purpose, Udovicki said during the meeting with Peterschmitt.

The discussions with Udovicki were the first in a series of meetings Peterschmitt is to have during his visit to Serbia.
