Gojkovic: Belgrade could become regional ICT center
BELGRADE - The Information and Communication Technology (ICT) is one of the sectors with highest youth employment potential in Serbia, and Belgrade could become the regional ICT center, Serbian Parliament Speaker Maja Gojkovic said Tuesday, opening the regional conference on trends in telecommunications and the media "Digital 2014."
The sector offers a vast and insufficiently exploited potential and it is expected to see significant economic growth in the near future. Young ICT professionals have a chance to start their own businesses and their success can be seen from the example of numerous small companies, Gojkovic told reporters during a break in the conference.
We should seriously consider the ways to encourage the development of the IT sector in Serbia, and help the country become the region's creative center in this sector, stressed Gojkovic.
The Serbian parliament will aim to contribute to the development of the ICT sector by passing good laws and monitoring their implementation, she added.
She also pointed out that the Serbian parliament's website offers live streaming of parliament sessions, meetings of the parliamentary committees and public hearings, adding that the e-parliament provides access to both adopted and proposed laws, as well as committee reports and decisions.
The parliament's website offers an opportunity to access the very core of the parliamentary system in Serbia through the global network, from any place on the planet, said Gojkovic.
