Police raid home near Athens linked to major bank robbery
Police raided a house in Nea Makri, northeast of Athens, on Wednesday in their search for the men believed to have carried out a 400,000-euro armed bank robbery northwest of the capital last month.
The home is believed to have been rented about 18 months ago, possibly by 33-year-old Spyros Dravilas, who is one of the three suspects police are looking for. Sources said there are indications that Dravilas and another suspect, Giorgos Petrakakos, used the property. Petrakakos has been linked to Nikos Maziotis, the head of the Revolutionary Struggle urban guerrilla group, who was arrested during the summer.
Kathimerini understands that the house was emptied out a number of weeks before the armed robbery at the National Bank branch in the village of Paralia Distomou. It is believed that Dravilas did not visit the property regularly and that he had told locals he was a businessman.
