German participant in LGBT conference injured

BELGRADE -- Despite still being in a serious condition, the injured German citizen has been feeling better since Sunday morning, Dušan Jovanović has said.

The deputy director of at the Emergency Center of the Clinical Center of Serbia spoke for Tanjug on Sunday.

"We are pleased about his recovery and we expect that he will be well, despite the injury being a serious one," Jovanović said, adding that the injured 27-year-old was visited by his parents.

"We will see if he wants to carry on with the treatment in Serbia or in Germany," said Jovanović.

The German citizen, who arrived in Belgrade to take part in a two-day conference on LGBT rights, was attacked in downtown Belgrade during the night between Friday and Saturday. He sustained serious injuries and underwent surgery at the Emergency Center.

The police arrested three persons suspected of involvement in the incident.

Serbian officials and non-governmental organizations strongly condemned the attack.
