Remains believed to belong of French hiker found on Mt Olympus, four years later
Remains believed to belong to a French woman who went missing on the peaks of Mount Olympus on September 30, 2010, were discovered on Sunday below the Loutsa trail, the state-run Athens-Macedonia News Agency reported.
The body was discovered accidentally by another hiker, who promptly alerted the authorities.
A search of the vicinity by EMAK special rescue crews, fire service officers and volunteers, revealed documents identifying the remains as possibly belonging to a 37-year-old French woman who was reported missing four years ago after going for a hike on the renowned northern Greek mountain.
The search for here whereabouts at the time had lasted several weeks and included a team of more than 60 rescuers.
An autopsy will be conducted to confirm that the remains do in fact belong to the missing woman and to provide clues regarding how she died.
