Serb List wants Kosovo gov’t without Self-Determination

BELGRADE- The Serb List stands ready to take part in a future Kosovo government on the condition that it will not have representatives of the Self-Determination movement in it, it was agreed during a meeting between the political representatives of Serbs from Kosovo and Serbian Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic on Wednesday.

The participants in the meeting found common ground on all issues, and adopted the principles for operation of the Serb List in the provincial government, director of the Serbian governemnt's Office for Kosovo-Metohija (KiM) Marko Djuric told journalists.

The Serb List is open to talks with everyone and stands ready for other possibilities, including snap elections, Djuric told a joint-press conference with representatives of the list, mayors of majority-Serb Kosovo-Metohija (KiM) municipalities and the team tasked with setting up a community of Serb municipalities (ZSO) in the province.

The officials also agreed that "the basic criterion and basic principle for the participation of Serbs (in the provincial government) is how and to what extent the Serb community as a whole will benefit from this participation," said Djuric.

This refers to "both the work at the central provincial institutions and joint work on setting up the ZSO that we expect doing with the representatives of the future government, whoever may form it," he said.

"Whoever wants to be able to count on the support from the Serb people must bear in mind that the work of the future government has to be directed towards strengthening and advancing the interests of the Serb community in KiM," said Djuric.
