Archibald Reiss - Hear Ye, Serbs premieres
NOVI SAD - The film Archibald Reiss - Hear Ye, Serbs has premiered at the Serbian National Theatre in Novi Sad, with the event attended by Serbian President Tomislav Nikolic, Novi Sad Mayor Milos Vucevic and Swiss Ambassador to Serbia Jean-Daniel Ruch.
Ahead of Friday night's premiere, Vucevic told reporters that he is proud that a film about a figure such as Archibald Reiss is about to premiere in Novi Sad.
"The work of Archibald Reiss is highly respected among the Serbs, and the Serbs have something to learn from Archibald Reiss," Vucevic said.
He said that the Serbs have much to learn, in particular, from Archibald Reiss' legacy in the book titled Hear Ye, Serbs, which was printed after his death and is also the topic of the documentary feature film.
During the shooting of the film, "Archibald's good spirit" helped find many items associated with his life, including a large number of photographs that he made in Serbia during the Great War, director Goran Vukcevic said.
Before the premiere, an exhibition of Reiss' photographs opened at the gallery of the Cultural Centre of Novi Sad.
The exhibition is titled Archibald Reiss in Serbia 1914-2014.
