Alexander the Great's tomb not at Amphipolis, says Culture Minister
Greeces Culture Minister Kostas Tasoulas said on Monday it is impossible for Alexander the Great to have been buried at a tomb in Ancient Amphipolis currently being excavated by archaeologists.
Although the experts searching the site insist that the tomb is from the Macedonian warrior kings era, Tasoulas told Mega TV that people should not expect the dig to uncover the remains of Alexander.
His comment comes as archaeologists search for the tombs fourth chamber.
As work continues, two caryatids found within the site at Kasta Hill in northern Greece have been fully uncovered. The Culture Ministry released photos of the marble sculptures on Sunday.
The Caryatids stand at 2.27 meters and are on marble plinth that is 1.33 meters high. The ministry statement noted the detail with which the women's feet have been carved.
