PAOK joins Olympiakos on top after win at Agrinio
By George Georgakopoulos
Olympiakos spent just two nights alone on top of the Super League, as on Monday evening PAOK joined the champions on 10 points through its 1-0 victory at Panetolikos.
The Thessaloniki giant was a shadow of the team that had put four past Zimbru and Platanias, three past Niki Volou and six past Dinamo Minsk in the last few weeks, but still managed to win at a ground where it had lost last season. Panetolikos has also shaved two points off Olympiakos this season.
The win for PAOK came through a penalty kick by Robert Mak on the 36th minute, and the visitors only had one more good chance in the game, hitting the woodwork on the 64th, but were not threatened with the exception of an injury-time scare.
Meanwhile Atromitos reacted to its 1-0 loss at OFI Crete with the sacking of manager Giorgos Paraschos on Monday. Former OFI boss Sa Pinto, from Portugal, is the leading contender to take over at Peristeri.
