Milivoje Miletic appointed PKS acting president

BELGRADE - The Assembly of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Serbia (PKS) has appointed Milivoje Miletic as PKS acting president at the proposal of the Board of Directors.

Miletic, who was appointed at a PKS Assembly session on Tuesday, has served as advisor to the PKS president and director of the agriculture and industry sector and the international cooperation bureau.

The sessions of the PKS Assembly and Board of Directors were also attended by Serbian Minister of Economy Zeljko Sertic, who said that the reform of the chamber system, initiated a year and a half ago, must continue to make the Chamber recognisable as a strong national association and a true service for the economy, a link between businesses and executive authorities and other institutions, the PKS said in a statement.

The PKS Assembly and the Board of Directors discussed macroeconomic indicators and economic trends in Serbia.

They said that significant reform progress was made in mid-2014 towards improving the business and investment environment.

The adoption of reform laws has improved the labour market and the bankruptcy procedure, and the pension system reform has begun, with amendments to construction regulations announced as well, they said.

The processes of privatisation, corporate restructuring and establishing financial discipline in the economy must be concluded as soon as possible, they said.

The PKS Assembly approved the resignations of former president Zejko Sertic, who is now minister of economy, and former vice president Vidosava Dzagic, now state secretary at the Ministry of State Administration and Local Self-Government.
