Commemorative stamp with Patriarch Pavle's portrait unveiled

BELGRADE - A commemorative stamp for the 100th anniversary of the birth of the late Patriarch Pavle of the Serbian Orthodox Church was unveiled at the Postal Museum on Friday.

In collaboration with the Serbian Orthodox Church, the Post of Serbia public enterprise thus takes part in the commemorations for Patriarch Pavle, a special figure among the Serbs, said the participants of a ceremony held at the museum.

The promotion was attended by Serbian Patriarch Irinej, Justice Minister Nikola Selakovic and Post of Serbia Director Milan Krkobabic.

We should all try to live by following the words and advice of Patriarch Pavle at least a little, Krkobabic said.

Patriarch Pavle's image on the stamp is one of the things that remind us what kind of a person he was, Krkobabic noted.

The portrait on the stamp was authored by academic painter Boban Savic, one of the most successful designers of Post of Serbia stamps.

The stamp has a nominal value of RSD 23 and a circulation of 25,000 and can be used to send letters within Serbia, it was said at the ceremony.
