'No Alternative' to Boyko Borisov as Bulgaria PM - RB's Kuneva
There is no other alternative if GERB points out Boyko Borisov as Prime Minister during the forthcoming government talks, a Reformist Bloc leader has reiterated.
Meglena Kuneva, who heads the Movement Bulgaria for Citizens (DBG), part of the Reformist Bloc, told private national channel bTV on Wednesday there is "no room for negotiations" if no other candidacy is raised to head the cabinet.
"This is a decision of GERB [Citizens for a European Development of Bulgaria]. If the mandate reaches the Reformist Bloc, then we would be able to have our own alternative," she explained.
"There are a few ladies in GERB who are consensus figures to be Prime Ministers. GERB, however, has no other offer," Kuneva added, though admitting his personality has divided the opinion among RB voters.
On the other hand she denied any "split" could be found within the ranks of Reformists.
A Wednesday meeting is expected to consolidate the bloc's position on what policies have to be endorsed in forthcoming government talks.
Center-right GERB, which won Bulgaria's early elections held Sunday, October 5, is set to hold talks with all parliamentary parties next week, staring with the runner-up, the Bulgarian Socialist Party (BSP).
Right-wing RB, a multi-party alliance which consolidated in 2013 amid the anti-government protests, came fourth in the snap vote.
So far the other major party within the bloc, Democrats for Strong Bulgaria (DSB), has ruled out the alliance could back Borisov as Prime Minister.
