Thousands of supporters greet Albania's team in Tirana

TIRANA - Several thousand supporters greeted Albania's football team at the airport in Tirana early Wednesday morning.

According to the AlbaniaSoccer website, a large number of supporters gathered at the airport to greet the team coached by Gianni De Biasi a few hours after the end of the Euro 2016 qualifier between Serbia and Albania.

The match was abandoned goalless at the end of the first half following a provocation by Albanian supporters, when a remote-controlled drone appeared flying above the pitch suspending a flag with an insignia of the so-called ‘Greater Albania', sparking off a series of incidents.

The Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) will take further steps regarding the match on the basis of an official report by the UEFA match delegate.
