Spokeswoman for the Social Democratic Party (PSD) Gabriela Firea on Thursday said he wants to raise some red flags over the implication the family of the Christian Liberal Alliance (ACL) presidential candidate Klaus Iohannis in child trafficking, mentioning press reports to the point.

Firea released an open letter in which she urges Romanians to look at facts and realities, which she claims 'unveil a quite unexpected profile of the one who wants to become Romania's president.'

Firea provided details of a 1990s case in which three orphaned kids were allegedly adopted by a Canadian family with the Iohannis family's support, about whom their grandmother and aunt have not hear anything since then.

'In 1997, journalist Dan Tapalaga wrote in Ziua de Ardeal about the implication of the pair of school teachers Iohannis in child adoptions at Rasinari, Sibiu County, for Canadian nationals, and a hypothesis was ventured that the children became ?spares' in organ banks,' Firea told a press conference.

She insisted that she does not talk about legal adoption procedures, but about illegal rings and 'the bleak mechanisms' that allowed Romanian children to be sent abroad without ever learning anything about them afterwards. 'The Iliut case in the early 1990s is a case in point,' said Firea. AGERPRES
