Stefanovic meets with Swedish ambassador

BELGRADE - Serbian Interior Minister Nebojsa Stefanovic met with Swedish Ambassador to Serbia Christer Asp on Thursday to discuss joint projects between Serbia and Sweden and Sweden's support for Serbia's European integration process in the field of internal affairs.

The two officials expressed their satisfaction about a very successful police cooperation between the two countries and their desire to see the good cooperation continue in the future, the Serbian Interior Ministry (MUP) said in a release.

Stefanovic said that Serbia, and especially MUP, saw Sweden as a strategic partner, voicing confidence that cooperation through various projects would make it possible to bring about a comprehensive, long-term and sustainable development of the ministry.

Stefanovic spoke to the Swedish ambassador about reforms undertaken within the Interior Ministry, stressing that assistance coming from Swedish partners was invaluable in those efforts.

Ambassador Asp said Sweden was unswervingly supporting Serbia on its road to the Europe and wanted to help it in all vital reform processes, the release said.
