4 dead in traffic accident in Belgrade

BELGRADE -- Four young people, each "about 20 years old," died last night in Belgrade in a traffic accident, medical emergency services have said.

The victims include three men and a woman, while another young woman sustained serious, life-threatening injuries.

The accident happened on the ring road in the Belgrade suburb of Resnik, when a Belgrade license plates Renault Clio passenger car collided head-on with a Turkish truck.

The road was closed for several hours as the police investigated the scene. There have been no reports yet as to what caused the accident.

The RTS public broadcaster is reporting that the truck driver was not injured.

According to reports, the victims were on their way home from a wedding reception when the crash took place.
