'Interactive Diaries: Belgrade' exhibition opens November 1
BELGRADE - One-day exhibition 'Interactive Diaries: Belgrade' showcasing the work of nine artists from Egypt, Italy and Serbia who interacted in the virtual internet space this October will open on Saturday, November 1, at the Stab Gallery.
Three artists from each country - an illustrator, a photograph and a sound artist - worked together online to create a joint work of art for each art medium. The artists from Serbia are illustrator Vanja Vikalo - Linnch, photographer Nemanja Knezevic and sound artist and music producer Predrag Sestic.
Their counterparts in the other two countries are illustrators Salvatore Giommarresi and Tarek Abdelkawi, photographers Linda Dorigo and Rehab Khalil, and sound artists Alessio Ballerini and Ahmed Saleh.
The results of the interactions will be presented simultaneously in Rome and Cairo, and the two exhibitions will also be live-streamed as part of the Belgrade display.
The idea behind 'Interactive Diaries' is to bring artists together in the virtual space and allow the similarities and differences of their personal and local cultures to come to the surface through interaction, resulting in the creation of hybrid works of art with an intercultural background.
The platform for the 'Interactive Diaries' is Cultural Innovators Network, a project of the Goethe-Institut as part of the German-Arab Transformation Partnership.
The project is created by members of the Cultural Innovators Network Katarina Nina Antanaskovic of Belgrade, Filomena Fittipaldi of Rome, and Reem Khedr of Cairo.
