Parties agree to reshuffle provincial government
NOVI SAD -- The League of Vojvodina Social-Democrats (LSV) and the Democratic Party (DS) have reached an agreement to make changes to the provincial government.
The two parties made the announcement on Wednesday.
"A session of the Assembly of the AP (Autonomous Province) Vojvodina, where the reconstruction will be made official, is expected to be held in the next few days," a join statement said.
Earlier in the day, the Social-Democratic Party (SDS) announced it would not join a reshuffled provincial government in Novi Sad. The reason, the party said, was a lack of any guarantee that the manner in which Vojvodina is managed will change.
The SDS said the negotiations, led by the Democrats, focused "exclusively" on the distribution of positions and "holding on to power," instead of the economic crisis, the living standard, unemployment, "and on clarifying the doubts related to abuses at the Fund for Capital Investments, and reasons why the Development Bank of Vojvodina went bankrupt."
