Candidate of the Alliance of the Social Democrats, the National Union for the Progress of Romania and the Conservatives (PSD-UNPR-PC), Prime Minister Victor Ponta, has announced that on Tuesday he will meet with the representatives of the governing coalition to decide together who may lead the Government on the basis of the Social Liberal Union (USL) program voted in 2012.

"On Tuesday I will meet with the representatives of the governing coalition and together we will announce the person or persons who may lead a Government of Romania on the basis of the USL program voted in 2012. (...) We will ensure that the USL program for which Romanians have voted in 2012 will be implemented until the end of 2016.", said Ponta.

He added that Calin Popescu-Tariceanu's party, the Liberal Reformist Party, will join the governing coalition.

Asked in the electoral campaign if in the second round of the presidential elections he will team up with the person he will designate for the position of Prime Minister, Victor Ponta replied: "It is a decision belonging to the governing coalition, because the next Prime Minister will work with the coalition in Parliament, I want to work with the Government, support it fully".
