Serbian ambassador summoned by Ukrainian MFA
BELGRADE -- The Serbian ambassador in Kiev has been summoned to the Ukrainian Foreign Minister over the visit of two Serbian MPs to the Donbass region.
Rade Bulatović met with first deputy of Ukraine's foreign minister on Wednesday, because two deputies from the ruling SNS party acted as observers during Sunday's elections organized by the self-proclaimed republics of Donetsk and Lugansk.
The elections are recognized by Russia, but not by Kiev and western countries.
The issue of the trip taken by Vladimir Đukanović and Branislav Blažić was raised on Tuesday in the Serbian parliament by an MP of the opposition Democratic Party (DS).
Đukanović spoke to reporters the same day to say he had traveled to Donetsk as a private citizen, and not in his role of deputy in the Serbian assembly.
