Corlatean: MAE sticking to its position that there is no legal basis for additional polling stations

Resigning Foreign Minister Titus Corlatean on Monday said the Foreign Ministry (MAE) is still fully sticking to its position that there is no legal basis for opening additional polling stations for Romanians abroad.

'The Foreign Ministry is fully sticking to its position that there is no legal basis for the opening of additional polling stations for the Romanians voting abroad in the presidential runoff election. Neither the law, nor Article 54(1) and other important legal provisions thereof, including imperative procedures, steps and deadlines that expired, nor the decision of the Central Electoral Bureau (BEC) of November 4 allow us to draw a conclusion that additional polling stations could be opened abroad,' Corlatean told a press conference at the MAE headquarters.
