Mihajlovic, Solorano back stronger Serbia-UNDP cooperation
BELGRADE - Serbian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure Zorana Mihajlovic and Director of the UN Development Programme (UNDP) in Serbia Irena Vojackova Solorano agreed on Monday that the cooperation between the Serbian government and ministry and UNDP needs to intensify.
During the meeting in Belgrade, Mihajlovic and Solorano qualified as positive the cooperation realised so far in activities aimed at recovery from the floods, joint projects and drafting on the law on planning and construction.
They stated that the cooperation will additionally improve by closing the agreement between the Ministry and UNDP which should soon be signed.
Vojackova Solorano welcomed the decision of the Serbian government to set up a coordination body for gender equality and expressed willingness for intensification of cooperation in this area as well.
On Monday, Mihajlovic also conferred with Asya Varbanova of the UN Agency Entity for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women (UN Women).
Mihajlovic noted that the cooperation between the UN agency and the Serbian government's coordination body in charge of gender equality, in which she holds a chair as the deputy prime minister, would contribute to better coordination of activities between various ministries in gender equality area.
This will also contribute to the government's cooperation with the parliament, civic society and international organisations in the sector, states the release issued by the Ministry.
