Delhaize to invest billions of dinars in Serbia
BELGRADE - President and CEO of Belgium's Delhaize Group Muller said Wednesday that the company would invest billions of dinars to expand its network and open hundreds and perhaps even thousands of new jobs in Serbia.
When it comes to our three-year plan for Serbia, we decided to invest billions of dinars to modernize our network of Tempo, Maxi and Shop and Go chains, Muller said.
Delhaize intends to keep Serbia one of its five top strategic markets in the world, he said.
We want to remain leaders, as that is what we really are in this market. We intend to invest RSD 5 billion in frozen and fresh products, Muller said.
Delhaize Serbia CEO John Kyritsis expressed the expectation that a EUR 50 million investment in a distribution center in Stara Pazova would end all rumors about Delhaize leaving the Serbian market.
Delhaize Serbia opened the 70,000 square-meter distribution center in Stara Pazova, 35 km northwest of Belgrade, today. The investment was worth about EUR 50 million.
The ceremony to mark the opening of the center was attended by Serbian Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic, who called on Delhaize Group to increase the share of Serbian products in its retail stores.
