National Liberal Party co-chairman Klaus Iohannis stated on Tuesday in a press conference that the amnesty and pardon law must be rejected by Parliament and the Legislative must resume discussions regarding a simplification of procedures to lift the immunity of MPs.

"In Parliament the amnesty and pardon law must be voted on and rejected, discussions on the Electoral Code must begin urgently, a commission exists, it must be reactivated and all parties must begin discussions on the Electoral Code that would comprise all legislation on the matter. There is need for a clear and net improvement in the domain", said Iohannis.

He stated that there is also need for a very clear vote in Parliament regarding the requests to proceed with certain efforts of the judiciary, claiming that it is necessary to simplify procedures in these cases.

"We cannot continue in the way it worked until now, by blocking through vote in Parliament certain efforts of the judiciary. There is a need to resume discussions and expedite them regarding the law on simplifying the immunity lifting procedures and to approve the requests coming from the judiciary", said the National Liberal Party leader.
