Ministry of Foreign Affairs firmly condemns attack near Jerusalem

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MAE) firmly condemns the terrorist attack that took place this morning that had as a target a synagogue near Jerusalem and which left four dead and eight wounded, a press release of the MAE shows.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs expresses profound regret for the loss of human life and manifests full solidarity with the Israeli people in these tragic circumstances.

Attacks targeting religious places of worship, such as the one taking place this morning, represent a grave threat to the fundamental human rights and liberties. The Romanian Foreign Ministry unequivocally rejects any form of violence and reasserts the importance of renouncing the adoption of unilateral measures that may lead to further escalation, the release shows.

The Romanian Foreign Ministry believes that relaunching dialogue for peace is all the more necessary given the current tense context.

"The recent terrorist attacks demonstrate the necessity of exercising sustained efforts for the conclusion of a sustainable peace agreement in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. Continuation of Israeli-Palestinian cooperation in the realm of security is vital, for the purpose of avoiding such incidents", the release also shows, MAE expressing hope that the authorities will continue to adopt the necessary measures to prevent violent actions.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs concernedly follows the recent developments in Jerusalem and categorically condemns any instigation to violence as well as all the attacks taking place in the recent period that left several dead and wounded. AGERPRES
