VIDEO: Turkish deputy injured in car crash in front of ruling party HQ

A member of Parliament was injured on Nov. 19 in a car crash that occurred near the headquarters of Turkey’s ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP).

Mahmut Kaçar, an AKP deputy for the southeastern province of Şanlıurfa, was driving his car when a bus hit his left side as both vehicles crossed a junction. Emergency teams immediately arrived and removed the injured deputy from the wrecked car after cutting off its door.

Kaçar was rushed to a hospital in an ambulance, escorted by two AKP deputies who had arrived at the scene from the nearby party headquarters. Despite injuries to his left shoulder and hip, the hospitalized deputy was not in a life-threatening condition, Doğan News Agency reported.

It was not immediately clear whether Kaçar or the bus driver violated a red light at the junction, leading to the crash.
