Cartoonist Ilias Skoulas, 87, dies

Greek cartoonist Ilias Skoulas died on Thursday at the age of 87.

Born in Crete in 1927, Skoulas began his career as a political cartoonist at the Anexartitos Typos daily. He subsequently worked for a variety of newspapers including Kathimerini, Mesivrini, Acropolis, Apogevmatini, Ethnos and Eleftheros Typos, as well as several magazines.

His work was showcased in 13 publications and four solo exhibition. He also took part in exhibitions abroad.

His funeral was expected to take place on Friday at the Nea Smyrni cemetery at 3 p.m.
