President-elect Klaus Iohannis said in a message on the Day of Romanians from Everywhere that the Romanians outside the borders had the strength and skill to prove by voting that Romania has a big chance, pointing out this "is an eloquent proof of how a nation retrieves its people".

"For this fascinating example of solidarity, the Romanians at home and I want to voice our deep gratitude to them. This is not just a chapter in our recent history, but an eloquent proof of how a nation retrieves its people, a moment present sooner or later in the history of all major nations. Basically, the lesson that I learned was the fact there is no place however remote in this world where people do not want a Romania of the job well done. After years of disappointment and failures, I convey today to the Romanians from everywhere that together we shall build a place where we will enjoy to live, not that we will be tempted to leave," Iohannis said in a message on Sunday, according to a release sent to AGERPRES.

Iohannis also said that no matter how difficult it would be, no matter how long it would take and especially as many sacrifices would be needed, "we shall strengthen what needs to be rebuilt in the Romanian society, with vision, calm and patience: the law, trust in institutions, democratic values, traditions, tolerance and respect for work and books."
