Serbian film The Healing wins Golden Sun award in Skopje
BELGRADE - The Healing (Isceljenje), a debut film by director Ivan Jovic and screenwriter Monja Jovic, has won the Golden Sun award for the best Balkan film at the 13th European Film Festival in Skopje.
The film produced by Cinnamon production was awarded by a jury comprising Nick Holdsworth, Paolo Maria Spina and Nana Jorjadze.
This year's Cine Balkan competition also included the following movies: Song of My Mother (Pjesma moje majke) by Erol Mintas, The Disobedient (Neposlusni) by Mina Djukic, Bota by Iris Elezi and Thomas Logoreci and Vis-?-vis by Nevio Marasovic.
The Healing raises the issue of the limits of love contained in the command of Jesus Christ "love your enemies", thus dealing with forgiveness as a precondition for a life full of love and the victory over death and meaninglessness.
This is a story about the war which rages inside people after the war. The protagonist, an Orthodox monk, will follow the path of healing which he could not even image.
The cast comprises Jovo Maksic, Radovan Miljanic and Nemanja Jeremic.
The Healing had a world premier on November 7 at one of the most prestigious film festivals in eastern Europe Cottbus, and it will premier in Belgrade at the International Film Festival late in February 2015.
