Halandri, Zografou mayors face disobedience, breach of duty charges

An Athens prosecutor on Wednesday filed charges against two mayors who are refusing to cooperate with the government in its efforts to check civil servants’ employment contracts.

The mayors of Halandri, Simos Roussos, and Zografou, Tina Kafatsaki, have both refused to cooperate with the Administrative Reform Ministry over civil servants’ evaluation and checks on employees whose fixed-term contracts were made permanent almost a decade ago.

They have been charged with disobedience and breach of duty, both of which are misdemeanors.

Three other mayors, those of Larissa, Patra and Rendi-Nikaia, may also be charged.
