Premier Victor Ponta will unveil the lineup of his reshuffled Cabinet at the meeting this Sunday of the National Executive Committee of the ruling Social Democratic Party (PSD).

Talks on the new Cabinet and the governing program for the period 2015 — 2016 were held in the meeting of the ruling coalition on Friday, Dec. 12, as well as during the week at the Victoria Palace, in a small format.

According to sources, although the Finances portfolio is eyed by the Liberal Reformist Party (PLR), PSD will further keep it, yet it will be merged with the Budget Ministry currently headed by Darius Valcov.

Another possible change would be the merger of the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change with the Ministry of Waters, Forestry and Fisheries, with PLR taking over the new entity, as well as the Ministry of National Education.

One of the four Vice Premier positions will be vacated following the pullout from governing of the Hungarian Democratic Union of Romania (UDMR). In the end, there might be just two Vice Premier positions in the future Cabinet.

The lineup of the Ponta 4 Government is supposed to be presented in Parliament on Monday and will take responsibility for the budget devised by the former ministers. Parliament vote on the state budget bill could take place on December 21.

"The new structure of the Government will take the priority actions into account. It's not the actions that are designed to fit the Government's structure, but it's the Government we design so as to best adjust to the priority actions," Prime Minister Victor Ponta said on Friday. AGERPRES
