Ministry of Foreign Affairs hails anniversary of Day of National Minorities

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MAE) hails the anniversary, on December 18, of the Day of National Minorities, the preservation and development of the culture and identity of the persons belonging to national minorities in Romania being extremely important.

"The persons belonging to national minorities have been and are not only active contributors to the development of the Romanian society, which they are an integral part of, but also bearers of their own cultural patrimony that is a constitutive part of the European heritage. Identity preservation, including through cultural projects, promoting and protecting the rights of persons belonging to national minorities, ensuring the effective participation of national minorities in decision-making, in the economic, social and cultural development of Romania have represented a reality and a constant of the political priorities of all Romanian governments after 1990", said MAE in a release remitted on Thursday.
