Miletic and Yang sign tourism cooperation agreement
BELGRADE - President of the Belgrade Chamber of Commerce Milivoje Miletic and Shen Yang Long Trade Executive Driector Yang Hogbo signed on Friday an agreement on cooperation in tourism.
The agreement is meant to improve cooperation in tourism and attract Chinese investments, especially in the hotel, spa and congress tourism industries and is based on the agreement signed by Chinese and Serbian officials at the recent summit between China and 16 countries of Central and Eastern Europe in Belgrade.
"The agreement will facilitate our companies' presence on the Chinese market, but also Chinese companies' presence on the Serbian market, as well as joint participation in international programmes," Miletic noted.
Serbian companies would also like to find strategic partners for the domestic tourism industry.
More and more tourists from China travel to Europe nowadays, and Southeastern Europe is becoming a very important market in recent year, Yang pointed out.
Shen Yang Long Trade plans to bring a delegation of investors interested in Serbia to Belgrade next year, she noted.
According to data from the Tourism Organisation of Serbia, 4,812 tourists from China visited Serbia in 2012 and spent a total of 13,665 nights in the country.
The number of Chinese tourists grew by 20 percent next year, with the number of overnight stays going up by 3 percent, while the number of guests from China in the first 10 months of 2014 was up by 58 percent and the number of overnights by 94 percent.
Shen Yang Long Trade was established in 2008 and focuses on trade with Europe, import of wine and agricultural produce, hospitality and tourism.
