Joksimovic: Failure to open chapter not diminishing results

BELGRADE - Serbia is essentially losing nothing by the failure to open a first chapter in the EU accession talks, Serbian minister without portfolio for European Integrations Jadranka Joksimovic said on Sunday.

"It is no drama" if it happens in a month or two, Joksimovic told TV Pink.

She reiterated that there are no new conditions for Serbia's accession to the European Union, noting that no one is requesting the country to recognise Kosovo's independence.

The minister noted that Serbia has done much in the process of implementing numerous reforms - in the rule of law, the judicial reform, the fight against corruption, improvement of human and minority rights, as well as in economic reforms, which she said are universally acknowledged as a significant reform achievement.

There were signals that the first chapter will be opened by the end of the year and we are not satisfied, but it definitely does not diminish our progress or the willingness to go on, Joksimovic said.
