President Iohannis: Romania needs a real strategy for promoting itself

President Klaus Iohannis on Thursday stated that Romania needs a real strategy for promoting its image in the world.

'Romania needs a real promotional strategy, which doesn't mean a logo or a video advertising, but a vision and a series of actions to define who we are as a nation and as a state. I wish you to be my partners in this endeavor, since you are already, through what you do, Romania's ambassadors, for which I'm grateful,' Iohannis told the students at the Gala of the League of Romanian Students Abroad, taking place at the Parliament Palace.

He showed that performance and patriotism describe best who the Romanian students abroad are and what they do.

'We hear that Romania doesn't have models anymore, that the young no longer have models to look up to in nowadays society or that, unfortunately, values no longer mean what they should mean. We have models and we have values, we just need to look beyond the apparent and learn how to listen what is beyond the noise, we need to have the courage to recognize these models and values and promote them,' the head of state said.

President Iohannis specified that the finalists at the Gala of Leagues of Romanian Students Abroad are the very proof that models and values still exist.

'Special people are to be found in every field of activity, who could be models for our society. The problem is not that they were missing, but rather our lack of concern with them was the problem, the fact that we didn't know how to cherish them, and by we I mean those who were and are in leadership positions, from which they have the power to change this status quo', he added.
