Broad majority
There are two weeks left before the pivotal January 25 election. Voting must result in the formation of a government and political leaders need to commit to doing everything in their power to avoid a second round. A second electoral battle would be disastrous and if anyone were to cause such an event they would face major historical responsibility. The country, its banks and economy are not in any state to survive the consequences of such a scenario. Political leaders should, however, also commit to something else if what they have in mind is truly in the country?s interest.
The next government must be as all-encompassing and broad as possible. What is at stake is massive and no political leader in his or her right mind can believe they are in a position to handle it all by themselves.
Only a government with the broadest majority and support can guarantee bold decisions as well as the marginalization of extreme elements, no matter what their political hue.
