Serbia ranked 54th in terms of press freedom

LONDON - Serbia is ranked 54th out of 180 countries in terms of press freedom in 2014, which is an improvement by 9 ranks compared to last year, according to a recently presented survey.

Reporters without Borders, who ran the survey, said that Finland was ranked first for the fourth year in a row, followed by the Netherlands and Norway.

Turkmenistan, North Korea and Eritrea were at the bottom of the rankings once again, described in the report as having virtually no press freedom.

The worst ranked member of the EU is Bulgaria, while Croatia, as the country that joined the EU most recently, is in 65th place.

The index covers 180 countries this year, one more than in 2013, since Belize was added, ranked 29th.
