Former President Basescu has 68 court cases recorded, 7 pending settlement
As many as 58 criminal cases were recorded by the name of former President of Romania Traian Basescu at the Penal and Crime Section of the General Prosecutor's Office, four criminal cases were recorded at the National Anti-Corruption Directorate (DNA) and six criminal cases at the Directorate for the Investigation of Organised Crime and Terrorism, says the Prosecutor's Office in an answer to a request sent by AGERPRES.

'Over March 2004 ? April 2014 there were recorded 58 criminal cases, 53 of which having being settled. Two cases were linked to another one settled in 2007 by a decision to not start the prosecution', the General Prosecutor's Office explained on Wednesday.
Two cases of the above-mentioned ones were declined to the Prosecutor's Office with the Bucharest Court of Appeal and to the Military Prosecutor's Office with the Bucharest Military Court respectively. The latter case is currently being settled, while the former was declined in favour of the Prosecutor's Office with Bucharest District 3 Low Court, with the ruling of not starting a criminal prosecution passed on Nov. 5, 2008.
'At present, the prosecutors with the Penal and Crime Section are assembling only one criminal case', stressed the Prosecutor's Office attached to the High Court of Cassation and Justice.
According to the release, four criminal cases were recorded at the DNA over 2002-2012, with only one still pending settlement, while the other four have been settled, the Prosecutor's Office explained.
