Djokovic named Balkan's best athlete for fourth year running

SOFIA - World number one tennis player Novak Djokovic was chosen as Balkan Athlete of the Year 2014 for the fourth time in a row, in the 42nd edition of the poll conducted by the Bulgarian News Agency (BTA).

The Wimbledon champion received a total of 91 points, 40 more than second-placed US Open winner, Croat Marin Cilic.

The third place went to yet another tennis player, Romania's female tennis star Simona Halep, who got 50 points.

Serbia's basketball player Milos Teodosic, whose great play helped Serbia's national team reach the final of world championships in Spain, ended up seventh in the voting.

A total of 10 national news agencies of the region took part in the poll and Serbia was represented by Tanjug.
