Dacic in Rome on stabilization of relations with Albania

BELGRADE - A trilateral meeting of the foreign ministers of Serbia, Albania and Italy, on Belgrade-Tirana relations and regional cooperation, was held in Rome on Friday.

The meeting was organized at the initiative of Italian Foreign Minister Paolo Gentiloni, and the participants included the foreign ministers of Serbia and Albania Ivica Dacic and Ditmir Bushati.

Dacic said at the meeting that efforts should be invested in the overcoming of differences, for the purpose of strengthening the dialogue and friendly relations between the two countries.
"We should focus on what brings us together, and not on what drives us apart. We are part of the same region and should be working towards joint projects," the Serbian foreign minister said.

The meeting also addressed regional cooperation in the light of the EU integration, as well as Italy's support to this process.

Special attention was paid to the strengthening of regional economic cooperation in the fields of energy and infrastructure, primarily in the context of the EU Strategy for the Adriatic and Ionian macro region.

According to the Serbian Foreign Ministry, the participants agreed that the meeting will contribute to stabilization of the relations between Belgrade and Tirana.

Dacic and Gentiloni also held a separate meeting, in which they discussed the bilateral ties, the promotion of economic cooperation and the priorities of Serbian OSCE Chairmanship.

The two ministers agreed that the Serbian-Italian relations are excellent, and pointed to the opportunities for enhancing economic cooperation, mainly in the areas of infrastructure and transport.
