Serbians win medals at US Open Taekwondo Championships

ORLANDO - Serbia's Milica Mandic, a women's Olympic taekwondo champion, won the silver medal at the US Open Taekwondo Championships in Florida on Sunday, while her compatriot Tijana Bogdanovic claimed the bronze.

After an initial three wins in the final of the G2 tournament, Mandic lost to Reshmie Oogink of The Netherlands, who is second-placed on the Olympic list.
"I worked a lot on changing my technique and tactics. I managed to achieve what I had intended to - the season has just started and, hopefully, things will get better and better. The World Championships will be held in May, and that is my first major objective," Mandic said.

Bogdanovic, a reigning European and world junior champion, fought against senior opposition this time around.
After three wins in the first round, she defeated the United States' Charlotte Craig, who is among the world's top 15
taekwondo fighters, but eventually lost to a Chinese competitor in a tough semi-final match.

On the opening day of the tournament, Serbian cadets Sara Jovic (female -33Kg) and Serdja Stevic (female -44Kg) won silver medals.
