Monument to Michael Jackson to screen in Sweden, US
BELGRADE - Film 'Spomenik Majklu Dzeksonu' (Monument to Michael Jackson) by Serbian scriptwriter Darko Lungulov will be screened at two important world festivals next weekend, the Goteborg International Film Festival in Sweden and the Santa Barbara International Film Festival in the U.S.
The Serbian film will be screened at the Santa Barbara International Film Festival within the Eastern Bloc competition and Lungulov will be the guest of the festival.
The film caused major interest of the audience since Michael Jackson's Neverland Ranch is located just 20 miles from the city.
Monument to Michael Jackson tells a story about a young man who wants to attract media and tourists' attention by erecting a monument honouring Jackson in order to help the town (in Serbia) get out of the atmosphere of apathy and hopelessness. The film stars Boris Milivojevic, Natasa Tapuskovic, Dragan Bjelogrlic, Toni Mihajloviski and Branislav Trifunovic.
The film saw its premiere in Karlovy Vary in summer 2014 and Belgrade audience had a chance to see it in October.
Darko Lungulov was born in Belgrade and he completed his film studies at the City College of New York. The Serbian director has won several recognitions and his films have been screened at festivals worldwide.
Lungulov's film 'Bekstvo' (Escape) won the audience award at the Hamptons International Film Festival in 2004 and it was also screened at festivals like the Amsterdam International Documentary Film Festival 2004, FEST 2005, Leipzig Documentary Film Festival 2005, Santiago de Chile 2006.
