Kurz: Vucic leading Serbia in right direction
VIENNA - Austrian Minister of Foreign Affairs Sebastian Kurz expressed hope late Thursday that the first chapters of Serbia's EU accession talks will be opened as soon as possible.
In a statement to Tanjug, he said that Vienna supports Serbia on its path to the EU because it is confident that Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic is leading the country in the right direction.
The Austrian foreign minister said that Austria has realised that the Serbian government's reform efforts are progressing well and added that he is confident that the path to the EU is an important engine of reforms in Serbia.
The 300,000 people of Serbian descent who live in Austria are an important bridge between the two countries, Kurz said after hosting a reception for the Serbian diaspora on occasion of Vucic's visit to Vienna.
They are an important bridge between the two countries and they are helping us to be the biggest investor in Serbia and have economic relations that are this good, which is beneficial to both countries, Kurz said.
