Dacic responds to Kocijancic, saying EU should take care
BELGRADE - Serbia's Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ivica Dacic commented on Sunday on statement by Maja Kocijancic, spokesperson for EU Commi?ioner for Neighbourhood Policy and Enlargement Negotiations Johannes Hahn, about Serbia's ombudsman that it was not a way to communicate with a sovereign country like Serbia.
Kocijancic on Saturday stated concern over the allegations by some circles in Serbia that Ombudsman Sasa Jankovic was a threat to national security.
"I think the EU should take care," Dacic told a news conference, adding that the EU's actions constituted meddling into a sovereign country's internal affairs.
"We are not an EU government or EU's office in Serbia, but the government of Serbia, and if anyone has objections to our work, they should talk to government officials, and they should be top EU officials" Dacic said.
He stre?ed that the president, prime minister and he were in contact with various EU officials on an almost daily basis, and that Serbia should not be talk to in that way, through spokespersons.
"That is not a way to communicate with a sovereign country like Serbia," he noted.
