Privatisation Agency posts list of companies going bankrupt

BELGRADE - The Privatisation Agency announced on Monday the list of 188 companies the government had decided would have to file for bankruptcy, since no one was interested in buying them, they had not been producing anything in years and had failed in securing a market share.

The list includes parts of large production systems that started faltering back in the 1990s, like the electronics manufacturer Elektronska industrija Nis, chemical company Zorka Sabac, railway vehicle producer Gosa from Smederevska Palanka and Sik Kopaonik from Kursumlija, which makes wooden construction material.

The hotel company Splendid from Belgrade will also file for bankruptcy, along with the charter airline Aviogeneks from Belgrade, tour operator Yugotours from Belgrade, export company Progres from Belgrade and metal company Petar Drapsin from Novi Sad.

The clothing company Prvi maj from Pirot also did not excite any interest among potential buyers and will go into bankruptcy, along with the motor vehicle manufacturer Zastava from Kragujevac, export company Inex from Belgrade, machine manufacturer Ivo Lola Ribar from Belgrade, cooking oil maker Fabrika ulja from Krusevac, engine producer 21 maj from Belgrade and a large number of vetererinary stations.

The Serbian government adopted on Saturday an action plan that allowed 188 companies from the Privatisation Agency's list of 512 government enterprises that are up for sale to file for bankruptcy.
