River near Bulgaria's Ruse Overflows, Readiness for Evacuation Exists

River Rusenski Lom, which passes through the village of Basarbovo near the Bulgarian town of Ruse, overflew on Thursday.

Two roads have been flooded, as a result of which the access to the rock monastery St Dimitar Basarbovski, has been cut, Darik radio reports.

Ruse's deputy district governor Yavor Yanchev assured that a permanent monitoring was in order and readiness for evacuation of all people threatened by a potential flood wave existed.

Yanchev expressed hope that there will be no further precipitation and rise of the water levels, so that the situation could normalise.

The situation in the nearby municipality of Ivanovo remains complicated.

In the village of Bozhichen there are dikes that are overflowing, the ground floors of houses in the village of Krasen are flooded, but no people are being threatened.
